Chasing waterfalls on Jeju island, South Korea
One day in Jeju we took a day trip to the southern coast to see a bunch of beautiful waterfalls. It took about an hour of driving to get to our first waterfall, Cheonjeyeon (천제연폭포), which had three waterfalls on one route.
You can see the first waterfall on the upper picture - or this time, you can't see it. The waterfall can only be seen after heavy rainfall and now it has been a couple of dry and hot days.
The second waterfall below was much more visible.
Before starting the walk to the third fall, we came across the Seonim bridge, or the seven nymphs bridge, that has the nymphs carved on its sides. Each of them is playing a different instrument.
The third waterfall viewing platform was a bit further away, but it was beautiful, nevertheless.
Our fourth water fall of the day was about 20 minute drive from the first three. This one was called Cheonjiyeon (천지연폭포). That's right, there is only a one letter difference, so try not to mix these two. The path leading to these falls is filled with subtropical plants. There were also a lot of ducks and a pond filled with koi. The pond that can be seen on the below picture is also a home for the marbled eel, but we didn't spot any.
One of the waterfalls we missed but would've been a great is Jeongbang Falls (정방폭포). It is quite close to Cheonjiyeon Falls and it is the only fall in Korea where the water falls directly to the sea.
